
Miriam Shafik
Miriam joined the IIJ as a Programme Manager in October 2018 and manages the Addressing Homegrown Terrorism Initiative, Judicial Capacity-Building Initiative, and programmes on countering terrorism financing. From 2012, she served as a Resident Legal Advisor Programme Assistant for the Arabian Gulf within the U.S. Department of Justice’s Office of Overseas Prosecutorial Development, Assistance and Training (OPDAT). In that role, she coordinated various judicial and rule of law capacity-building and development initiatives focusing on counter-terrorism, counter-terrorism financing, anti-money laundering, and mutual legal assistance. She has a Master’s degree in International Law, Diplomacy and International Relations from the Paris-Sorbonne University Abu Dhabi.
